To provide adequate and effective administrative assistance to the Dean of Students and managing all functions and responsibilities of his/her office while also managing the Parris Institute for Professional Formation and all related programs. This position is responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all projects for the Dean of Students Office and effectively interacting with internal and external stakeholders in a helpful, responsive, and professional manner. This position supports and contributes to the University's mission and strategic plan by developing and maintaining programs to enhance student experience through the Parris Institute (including but not limited to the Preceptor Program, Student Mentor Program, Launch Week, and the Parris Workshops for Professional Formation), while also effectively assisting and executing all initiatives of the Dean of Students (including but not limited to student life, diversity initiatives, and spiritual life).


  • Administrative assistance to the Dean of Students. Implementation of all of the Dean of Students initiatives, including but not limited to the oversight of student organizations and accounts, diversity and inclusion council, interfaith council, non-academic student counseling, assisting if necessary in confidential student emergencies; managing the Dean of Students calendar and appointments; assisting administratively with Dean of Students classes; assisting other personnel and teams that report to Dean of Students/Chief of Staff; general office management; available to support coverage of the Dean's Suite when necessary; writing and sending communication on behalf of Dean of Students; plan and monitor special projects for the Dean of Students/Chief of Staff; implement systems and processes to help the Dean of Students/Chief of Staff efficiently and effectively manage information, data and key tasks.
  • Management of the Parris Institute, including but not limited to the oversight, development, and implementation of the Preceptor Program, Student Mentor Program, Launch Week, Parris Workshops, and the Parris Awards.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree. Previous general office experience and/or other applicable experience. Superior interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills; professional demeanor; assist with all administrative needs of Dean of Students; filing; writing; must be organized; lead teams of student mentors; high interaction with existing and prospective students. Great skills with MS Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Preferred: Must be a multi-tasker; handles deadlines; comfortable with design; hospitality; neat; outgoing; loves people and students; team player.

Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is a restricted, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
