The University operates an internal trust company, Wave Services, Inc. (WSI), which administers charitable trusts, both annuity trusts and unitrusts, on behalf of the University. This position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting, analysis, and tax activities of the Trust & Estate department.

Duties

  • Responsible for entering brokerage data into the trust accounting system
  • Ensure trust system entries are accurate and reconciled on a monthly basis
  • Prepare materials for the annual and year-end audit
  • Responsible for daily processing activities in the trust system
  • Assist with tax filings including 1099s, K-1s, tax returns and IRS inquiries
  • Attend training as requested
  • Assist with the preparation of the California Insurance Report and board-related materials
  • Review quarterly beneficiary statements for accuracy
  • Update Razor's Edge for donor relations
  • Ensure compliance with external audit deliverables
  • Document desk procedures as appropriate
  • Prepare and update trust summaries for internal reporting
  • Review and ensure accuracy of beneficiary payments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree. Minimum four years in an accounting envirornment or three years experience in trust or securities accounting operations. Strong accounting, financial analysis and computer skills; excellent Excel, Word, and Google mail skills; good oral and written communication skills; great attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up; ability to meet deadlines; ability to work effectively with different personality types; maturity to handle confidential and sensitive matters; a good team player; able to work effectively with minimal oversight; ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently; ability to demonstrate a high level of ethics, integrity and discretion; strong commitment to the mission and goals of Pepperdine University.

This is a restricted, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
