In pursuit of excellence and to align with the University’s mission and strategic plan, this position will help to steward the University's resources through budget management and financial analysis and reporting, which will enhance management's ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. This is an ideal role for an individual seeking to develop a broad skill set in budgeting and financial reporting, while also building strong business relationships with both internal and external constituents.

Duties

  • Review, edit, and post budget adjustment requests. Coordinate with major area budget managers to facilitate budget management
  • Assist in compiling and uploading data to Hyperion (University planning and budgeting system) during the budget process
  • In coordination with major area budget managers, monitor GL journal postings and verify sufficient departmental budget exists. Resolve journals that exceed budget as they occur
  • Provide institutional financial information for surveys requested by various external entities
  • Assist in month-end variance analyses as well as ad hoc analyses as needed
  • Routinely maintain and update various financial schedules used by University personnel
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting, finance, business); Less than five years experience in a finance environment. Experience with analytical tools; excellent critical thinking skills; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong PC skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

This is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
