Reports to the Sr. Director of IT Administration & Client Services, leads, creates, writes, and implements division-wide communication activities. Serves as IT webmaster. As instructed, prepares, reviews, and submits a variety of communications for the Information Technology division. The incumbent works closely with IT Leadership in planning effective use of social media, the division’s internal wiki, and emergency communications. Maintains documentation, communication and presentation standards across the division.

Duties

  • Crafts vision for and maintains the IT website.
  • Manages, writes, edits, and submits a variety of communications for the Information Technology division including, but not limited to, press releases, news stories, social media content, the monthly CIO report, the annual report, and emergency communications.
  • Manages and develops the division's internal wiki environment and provides staff training to promote the use of the environment for documenting project notes, meeting, and action items.
  • Maintains documentation standards across the division.
  • Serves on various committees, internal and external to the information technology division.
  • Engages in professional development related activities.
  • Issues the annual TechQual+ survey. Coordinates responses to other surveys.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Upholds University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Requires bachelor’s degree in related field, specialized training, or equivalent work experience in higher education managing / developing / designing effective communications. Typically requires 1-2 years of IT project management or equivalent team leadership experience. Strong writing skills are required. Previous experience in website design, social media campaigns, graphic arts, and video design/production. Expertise using the OS X platform and associated tools (Photoshop, Pages, Keynote) for delivering appealing, effective communications.

Preferred: Experience working with communications processes, procedures, and organizations at Pepperdine University. Candidates will be asked to provide examples of past work (websites, articles, social media campaigns, graphic design, communications, brochures, etc.) as a part of their interview. Finalists may be asked to review draft communications pieces and make recommendations regarding effectiveness as a part of their interview.
