Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology seeks an energetic, experienced and vibrant leader to serve as its Senior Director of Marketing and Enrollment. Reporting to the Dean, the Senior Director of Marketing and Enrollment is a position designed to integrate mission-consistent marketing strategies and develop effective, compelling messages that support the advancement of university goals and objectives.

The Senior Director of Marketing and Enrollment provides strategic vision, direction and leadership to the offices of Marketing, Enrollment, and Alumni Relations and works closely with Directors and Faculty in support of the School's vision, mission and strategic goals, The Senior Director is an entrepreneurial leader who can think creatively and utilize the most up-to-date marketing knowledge in the realization of the University's strategic vision. 

In the area of Marketing, the Senior Director provides vision, direction, and leadership in overall brand building, communications, and marketing campaigns for the college. Coordinates and implements strategic and mission-critical communications that may have impact on a wide variety of stakeholders. Manages the development, production, and distribution of materials that advance the outreach goals and mission of the Graduate School of Education and Psychology. Develop and implement relationship-building and communications strategies to expand awareness of GSEP. Establish college policies and procedures related to media relations, news releases, publications, websites, social media, and outreach materials. Cultivates relationships and serves as a liaison with the college's subunits to coordinate efforts that ensure synergistic, comprehensive, and consistent marketing communication activities across all units to achieve the goals associated with college's marketing communications plan.

In the area of Enrollment and Admissions, the Senior Director provides leadership of University efforts to recruit qualified and diverse graduate students for doctoral, master's, certificate, and other academic programs. Formulation of comprehensive strategies for the effective, well-organized use of technology to facilitate high quality prospect and applicant management; and increasing the University's visibility in order to achieve our goals of securing an increased number of admissions applications and conversions to enrolled status, becoming a global institution, and aligning our core academic strengths with our marketing messages.

The Senior Director must actively and effectively manage the brand and equity of academic program offerings; support targeted enrollment of qualified students; determine the appropriate marketing mix to maximize the return on marketing resource allocations; manage the university marketing budget toward maximizing image, reputation, and new student enrollment goals; advise academic units toward the creative and cost-effective leveraging of university and academic marketing resources. 

Duties

  • Actively promote the University's mission and highest standards of academic excellence, purpose, service and leadership.
  • Develop strategy, direction, coordination, and assessment for communications initiatives; oversee Marketing, Enrollment, and Alumni Relations department priorities and staff; develop and implement an image-building public and media relations program aimed at achieving maximum exposure, awareness, and understanding of GSEP's mission.
  • Provide leadership in planning, developing, executing, and assessing a strategic enrollment management and associated marketing plan for the University. Advise the Dean on enrollment management matters, particularly strategy, budget, data analytics, and policy development.
  • Lead and manage marketing functions, internal and external communications in support of the institution's strategic initiatives and enrollment goals.
  • Cultivate, convey, and display a positive, motivational and inspirational attitude to the admissions and marketing staff. Lead by example and maintain the department's collaborative culture and work ethic by providing a caring and supportive environment.
  • Closely monitor communications trends, research, and best practices in higher education market and other industries.
  • Oversee Alumni Relations
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications or related discipline; or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience from which comparable skills can be acquired required. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, marketing knowledge, project and financial management skills and a proven track record of using state-of-the-art approaches to recruit and enroll domestic and international students. Alignment with University mission of service, purpose and leadership. Ability to work within a diverse community and establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with faculty, staff, industry partners, campus partners, and the public in a manner that promotes a positive image of the University. Political acumen, diplomacy and confidentiality; a clear and confident communication style that shows integrity and represents the University with the highest degree of professionalism. Strategic planning, analytical, and program evaluation skills to effectively provide sound recommendations, continually examine systems, and develop or revise to accommodate change requirements. Demonstrated management, leadership, and supervision experience, strong conflict management skills, excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to motivate a dynamic staff of multiple behavior styles while building team cohesion and collaboration.

Preferred: Familiarity with higher education goals, structures, and communication standards, and ability to understand, analyze and present relevant information to a variety of audiences preferred. Master's degree preferred. Experience with digital marketing tactics for recruitment efforts to support lead generation and conversion in the areas of recruitment. Ability to stay up-to-date on emerging communications technologies and ability to cultivate media contacts. Experience working with Project Management Software, Adobe Creative Suite, and Apple Keynote preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
