The Program Manager of the Pepperdine University School of Public Policy (SPP) Cross Sector Leadership Fellows program reports to the Dean while working closely with SPP team members, consultants and external vendors. The incumbent is responsible for providing management guidance and support in the implementation of Cross Sector Leadership Fellows program that further builds SPP's mission of bridging public-private partnerships to provide transformational experiences that inspire, encourage, and empower leaders to make measurable, positive impact in their communities. The Program Manager provides management guidance and support for the Cross Sector Leadership Fellows program and is responsible for communications, public outreach, budget, internal, and external educational exercises, event and travel logistics, admissions, strategy, planning, and program management with SPP employees and administration.


  • Provides management guidance and support in the implementation of the Cross Sector Leadership Fellows event strategy, including coordination of communications and logistics for effective event execution.
  • Provides input and guidance in the design, curriculum development and/or evaluation of the program.
  • Responsible for the successful design, development, administration, deployment and evaluation of the program in coordination with the Dean of SPP.
  • Manages selection and recommendation process, review committee, interviews, acceptance packets, timeline and communication with applicants for the program.
  • Responsible for development and delivery of all communication for the program: determine the timing of, create and design email content, and ensure all logistics of events are communicated to participants.
  • Create a space for all material, guest speaker information, photographs, handouts, links and reference material which is accessible by program participants.
  • Creates and oversees marketing and communication strategies and materials for the Cross Sectors Fellows campaigns.
  • Oversees billing of participants, works directly with internal and external accounting departments for to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Responsible for reallocating expenses, processing speakers payments, and reconciliations.
  • Manages internal budget for the Cross Sector Leadership Fellows program.
  • Manages consultant hires and on-boarding in consultation with the Dean.
  • Sets up faculty calls and develops agendas for meetings.
  • Oversees student services for the Fellows and faculty and serves as the lead facilitator during the in-person learning experiences.
  • Manages program implementation and timeline.
  • Manages external vendors in order to secure event space, transportation, catering, A/V needs, lodging, supplies, program material, promotional items, photographers and videographers.
  • Oversees logistics of hosting guest speakers and facilities travel reimbursement.
  • Coordinates and arranges conference calls, webinars, meetings and workshops; prepares agendas, reserves facilities, records/transcribes minutes, and tracks follow-up ideas.
  • Serves as primary liaison with consultants, prepares contracts, creates job descriptions, and enters all requisitions, tracks progress and evaluations, and establishes "scope of work" and deliverables.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree and more than 5 years of work experience in planning, program development, and/or program delivery. Must have demonstrated excellent communication, program coordination, and organizational skills, and an ability to learn processes and develop new ones when needed. Candidate needs excellent interpersonal skills (both speaking and writing), with a strong work ethic, and an orientation toward customer service and problem solving. Solid computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel). Must possess and maintain a current, valid state driver's license and available for travel.

Preferred: Experience with program management and executing detail-oriented tasks, experience with events; graphic design skills, managing contact databases and social media.

This is a restricted, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
