The Account Resolution Counselor's primary responsibility is to collect funds related to delinquent student loans and student receivables, deliver professional customer service to student borrowers and alumni, advise and assist regarding financial options following the University policies and federal regulations, review and process deferment and forbearance requests.

Duties

  • Communicate with student borrowers, alumni, collection agencies, and credit reporting agencies regarding loans, student accounts, and repayment schedules
  • Verify promissory notes
  • Prepare repayment schedules
  • Process deferment applications, assignment of loans, and wage garnishments; reconcile documents to make sure all loans are properly reported and separated.
  • Review exit interviews
  • Perform other duties assigned
  • Uphold University mission through work performed

Skills and Qualifications

Required: High school diploma; two years customer service; accounts receivable/or collections experience. Strong analytical and good communication skills, proficient in Word, PC computer skills. Mathematical and basic accounting skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to obtain knowledge of current laws relating to bankruptcy as it affects student debt; knowledge of University policy and procedures and maintenance of security and confidentiality of student’s records; ability to learn and adapt quickly in a continuously changing environment; ability to be self-motivated, analytical, and a team player; ability to use mature judgment; ability to deliver courteous service and promote good will through conscientious observance of customer service principles and standards.

Preferred: AA Degree, classes in business and accounting.

This is a regular, non-exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
