The overall purpose of this position is to help develop and implement strategies, programs and activities that create affinity for the Graziadio School and engage its alumni and encourage their support and engagement. Manage teams of volunteers and communities and build connections between them and the university. Enhance the Graziadio School's alumni council programs; Administer and seek to continuously improve Graziadio engagement programs, including conferences, summits, seminars, workshops and webinars; Collaborate with academic and administrative leadership at the Graziadio School and Pepperdine University and stakeholders within the School.. Initiate and lead programs to achieve the C.A.R.E. Program initiatives: Career, Alumni Giving, Recruitment and Engagement. Develop and execute alumni events for the Dean’s office and other leaders of the Graziadio School; Work closely with internal stakeholders such as the Graziadio School Programs Office for Fully Employed, Executive, Full Time, and online Programs to develop student programming that bridges the gap from student to alumni. Support friend- raising efforts by cultivating relationships with influential alumni and with partnership organizations and other universities, among others; Perform other related duties as assigned. Assist in building meaningful community and enduring alumni loyalty. Engage alumni to assist in enhancing the student experience. Mobilizes alumni to improve the school's reputation and distinction among peers. Forge partnerships to widen and deepen engagement with corporate and community partners to expand learning, internship and hiring opportunities.


  • Program Management: Manage local and regional alumni and School activities for the Graziadio School, in particular Southern California based programs; Recruit and manage volunteer communities to engage with the School; Serve as the manager of the Graziadio Leadership Councils and Communities, the chief volunteer organizations of the Graziadio School alumni office.
    Manage council/community budgets and oversee facilitation of their regional events, from coordinating website registration pages to finalizing speaker travel plans. Coordinate a yearlong calendar of alumni events for the Dean and Associate Deans as they travel domestically and internationally; Develop and implement event strategies, including online marketing, to boost the reputation of the Graziadio School and the value of the Graziadio Alumni Network; Work closely with alumni leaders to create a multiyear strategy for growth and development of alumni programming and engagement in their regions. Work closely with stakeholders to engage alumni to assist them in achieving department objectives.
  • Outreach and engagement: Cultivate strong relationships with and engage alumni and business executives who can add significant value to the Graziadio School such as by hiring students or alumni, sponsoring a program, actively participating in events; and/or referring students to our programs. Establish partnerships with professional and academic organizations that can enhance the Graziadio School calendar of events and brand or open doors of opportunity for greater professional advancement for our students and alumni.
  • Marketing & social media: Management of the alumni online community. Actively participate in the Graziadio School's online network, student and alumni groups and social media - Linkedln, Facebook, Yammer, among others. Promote activities and alumni interactions online and leverage the tools to help support a thriving online alumni and student community. Work with the Sr. Director of Alumni Relations and the Manager of Alumni Engagement to develop a strategy for enhancing the Graziadio School's online alumni community and volunteer organizations/councils.
  • Student Experience: Work with Program offices to enhance the student experience by engaging alumni into the student-lifecycle, recruiting mentors, assisting career offices in identifying internships and career opportunities for alumni. Manage student workers to assist in accomplishing department objectives.
  • Special Projects: Data mining. Vendor research. Assist Sr. Alumni director with research projects, strategic planning, and special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree; 5-7 years experience in event/volunteer management and engagement programs. Written communication skills, marketing/social media experience and the proven ability to work well with character diversity. Prior team leadership experience. Superior interpersonal, telephone, and public contact skills; strong written communication skills; program development experience. Event and volunteer management experience. Marketing experience. Proficient utilizing Microsoft Office, social media networks, database management software, and the Internet. Multi-tasker and ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects. Technically savvy. Personal Computer, expertise in Internet searches, and webinar and teleconferencing equipment.

Preferred: MBA or MS. Experience in event management, online communities, volunteer management, and facilitating and working with teams. Experience with the following software: Raiser's Edge, Qualtrics, People Soft. HTML code familiarity.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
