Under the direction of the Managing Director and Academic Director of the Straus Institute, this position is responsible for managing the Straus Institute’s marketing and recruitment functions and for achieving annual assigned enrollment targets for student recruitment. The individual must be self-driven and must be a team player with high energy and work ethic.


  • Recruitment and Marketing: This position will work under the direction of the Managing Director in managing the recruitment and marketing efforts for Straus. Past recruitment experience is preferred. Is responsible for recruiting students for all of Straus' academic programs with a focus on the LLM Program. Provide expertise and ideas to design and implement strategies that attract undergraduate, JD and MBA students as well as senior lawyers, judges, accomplished mid-career professionals (who are not lawyers) and international lawyers. This person will identify external and internal opportunities and then develop and refine detailed strategies for marketing and student recruitment in order to meet annual assigned enrollment targets. Will take responsibility in ensuring that Straus meets the target recruitment goals to meet our revenue goals.
  • Digital Marketing Management and Data Collection: Manage the Straus website; either create or approve any information before it is posted; responsible for making sure the content is current, accurate and user friendly. Work with the Managing Director to supervise digital marketing campaigns, social media and other online resources as well as print and direct mail campaigns and other aspects of marketing promoting the Straus Institute and Pepperdine School of Law to prospective students and enrollees around the world. Needs to understand and ensure effective, efficient and systematic approaches to the marketing and recruitment functions, including effective deployment of CRM and other electronic platforms. Work with the School of Law marketing team to ensure successful marketing campaign.
  • Conferences and Intra-University Relationships: Will prepare exhibit materials (including our booth and displays) and attend conferences and other recruiting events both domestically and around the world. Be responsible for handling some aspect of our inter-school relationships to ensure stronger intra-school student mobility.
  • Collaboration & Team Work: Collaborate with the Straus Institute, School of Law Staff and Leadership.  Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree. 2+ year’s recruitment experience. Excellent leadership and management skills, including interpersonal and communications skills; written, verbal and presentation skills. Strong organization, analytical and time management skills. Strong customer relationship management skills. First-hand experience (as a lawyer, business professional, and/or dispute resolution professional, utilizing mediation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution and conflict management approaches). Familiarity with (or ability to quickly master) pertinent computer applications and tools used at the Institute, including CRM, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Preferred: Familiarity with academic and professional skills programs in dispute resolution and conflict management.

This is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
