The Faculty Support Specialist and Moot Court Coordinator provides administrative support for 30+ full-time faculty, 20+ part-time faculty, backup administrative support for 4 student run law journals. Supports 60+ academic law school classes per semester. Assists in coordinating all midterm and final exams for Malibu, Washington DC and London campuses. This position gives the 50+ faculty and 600+ law students the highest level of administrative support. This position supports faculty writing and other projects which enhance the law school's reputation. Provides excellent customer service to our students which contributes to a successful law school experience.

Duties

  • Type, proof and edit legal documents such as wills, briefs, law journal articles, manuscripts, books and class materials
  • Administrative support for the Moot Court Board and the Trial Advocacy Board. Responsible for organizing and maintaining records for all Moot Court Competitions, including, but not limited to, travel arrangements, travel reimbursements, registration fees, calendars, brief submissions.
  • Maintain faculty files, both paper and electronic, and assist faculty with various projects and course materials.
  • Type, copy and prepare midterm and final exams. Maintain high security of exams while processing.
  • Proctor midterm and finals exams. Prepare essay answers and multiple choice answers for professors to grade.
  • Distribute and follow up with faculty on the timely submission of book orders. Provide administrative backup support for 4 law journals. Greet students, faculty and visitors who enter our office and troubleshoot with any faculty technical issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal and relationship skills. Excellent proofreading skills working with books, articles, letters, etc. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize a large volume of tasks and materials. Strong grammar and proofreading skills. Good interpersonal and public relations skills working with senior lawyers and judges. PC literate with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Power Point) at an intermediate level. Typing 60-65 wpm. Use of copier, printer, scanner, fax machine, multi-line phone.

Preferred: Bachelors degree and/or experience working at an academic institution preferred. One year legal secretarial experience. Experience working with senior management executives or lawyers and judges preferred. Experience with PeopleSoft program preferred.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
