This experienced Salesforce developer will be responsible for development within Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and our Force.com event management applications. This position is responsible for developing in Visualforce, Apex, Java, AJAX, and other technologies to build customized solutions that support business requirements. This position will be involved in the development process, including gathering requirements, analyze processes, studying feasibility, designing, gathering feedback, and implementation of Salesforce related applications. Responsibilities include administering for the university's CRM system, its integrated applications including Marketing Cloud and our Force.com event management application in the general areas of security, administration and automation. Information Technology and Integrated Marketing Communications departments are directly tasked with the "Engaging Waves" Initiative, a effort that engages prospects, current students and their parents, faculty and staff, friends, donors, and alumni members in a constituent-centric manner that highlights the overall Pepperdine Waves experience and elevating the University's national reputation, providing strong and consistent institutional message leadership, and implementing effective integrated marketing and communication strategies.The Salesforce/Marketing Cloud Developer fulfills a central role in helping the University accomplish its goals.

Duties

  • Oversee front and back-end solution architecture, development and release management strategies, change management, and direct leadership in designing solutions that meet or exceed customer needs. Ensure all development work such as design implementation, whether managed internally or by service provider, follows established standards, processes, application guidelines and technical architecture.
  • Design technical end to end solution for business processes using Salesforce.com and Force.com platform. Technical leadership, setting best practices including integration and application development, deployment, testing (unit and systems), and iterative refinement. This includes Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Fonteva event management system.
  • Define and design scalable Salesforce solutions leveraging native out-of-the-box Salesforce functionality whenever possible.
  • Manage Permissions for current and new Salesforce development.
  • Develop objects, workflow rules, email alerts, field updates, etc. as it related to new and updated processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field; Certified Salesforce Administrator; Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I; 4-5 years of technical experience with demonstrated increasing responsibilities; 2-4 years application development experience. Strong history of successful technical project management experience; Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience; Development experience with Salesforce.com; Advanced SQL and Excel skills; Experience with software development lifecycle of enterprise level applications as well as Change Management, Release Management, and Source Code Configuration Control. Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards; Knowledge of distributed system architecture, middleware, or object oriented analysis and design required; Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills; Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with constituents throughout the university; Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment; Innovative, adaptable, self-directed, and team player. Ability to communicate effectively cross functionally with both executive management and end users; Qualified candidates will have demonstrated experience prioritizing and delivering against multiple project deadlines and milestones; Strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills; Strong verbal/written communication and data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with constituents throughout the university; Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment; Innovative, adaptable, self-directed, and team player; Technical background with a proven history of understanding complex systems; Strong understanding of relational databases; Strong history of successful technical project management experience; Broad level of understanding surrounding information systems and application architecture standards; Knowledge of distributed system architecture, middleware, or object oriented analysis and design required. Proficiency in HTML, XML, SQL, Java or C++, SOAP and REST-based web services, JSON, FLEX, CSS and Jquery frame works. Experience using Salesforce data tools (Data Loader, Force.com Explorer , Workbench, Eclipse Force.com IDE); Detailed experience writing Visualforce and Apex classes and triggers by following best coding practices (using dynamic apex and dynamic SOQL); Strong understanding of relational databases and development competency around MS SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle;
Mac and PC proficient

Preferred: Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II; Certified Salesforce Advanced Administrator; Salesforce Certified Marketing Cloud Consultant; Master’s Degree; Demonstrated ability to work with users across organization with varying levels of proficiency in Salesforce
Broad knowledge of IT systems, infrastructure, processes and controls; Experience working in an academic environment preferred; Familiarity with web application development technologies like JavaScript, CSS, AJAX, JSON, HTML5, AngularJS and Twitter Bootstrap is preferred.
