The Grant Writer supports efforts to increase private grant funding from foundations and corporations for Pepperdine University, Seaver College, Graduate School of Education and Psychology, School of Law, School of Public Policy, and Graziadio Business School.


  • Consult with and advise faculty on funding opportunities, applications and writing grant proposals.
  • Craft, edit and review grant proposals to corporations and foundations.
  • Identify and document institutional needs and matches.
  • Use electronic databases and other resources to research potential funding sources.
  • Review grant guidelines and ascertain compatibly.
  • Tracking of all pending, submitted or awarded grants.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations when necessary.
  • Work with the Grants Coordinator to track stewardship requirements and prepare and/or obtain reports for timely submission.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree required; 2-4 years professional grant writing/editing experience required; Outstanding oral and written communication skills; critical thinking, time management, and problem- solving skills; ability to meet deadlines under pressure; flexibility to work independently or collaboratively; superior attention to detail; negotiation abilities; Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; must be Internet savvy and comfortable working in fast-paced environment.

Preferred: Prior employment as grant writer in a higher education environment preferred; Research experience preferred; Raiser's Edge, Nolij,and database development experience preferred.

This is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
