Work closely with the Manager of IT Training to assess the technology training needs of Pepperdine University; create, lead, and promote professional development workshops and programs targeted to meet client-specific needs on the effective use of University software, tools, or services to help our community learn, teach, and work well; design, develop, and deliver multimedia content for traditional classroom and online/blended/hybrid delivery methods; create and manage course curricula, instructional media, presentations, documentation, and other learning aids; collaborate with IT and other colleagues on appropriate training for new IT product or service launches or changes; and contribute to the strategic vision of promoting a culture of continual learning and digital literacy at Pepperdine University.

Duties

  • PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, & TRAINING: Plan, schedule, gather resources, set up, deliver, and evaluate technology training. Plan the appropriate training schedules, work with others to schedule the training rooms, ensure the training rooms are adequate, judge the effectiveness of current training methods, and identify new training methods using the latest technology.
  • NEEDS ASSESSMENT & RELATIONSHIP BUILDING: Collaborate with the Manager of IT Training to conduct outreach to the University community to determine needs and build relationships. Visit with IT and departmental support colleagues to learn about common community issues and identify opportunities for education initiatives. Visit with end users to learn their business practices. Develop classes, documentation, learning aids, and professional development programs based primarily on customer needs. Research emerging technologies for application at the university.
  • INSTRUCTIONAL CONTENT CREATION: Create effective multimedia content to empower the university community to learn, teach, and work effectively with technology. Create and manage appropriate documentation, videos, graphics, presentations, and other learning content for online, print, in-person training, and other deliverables/platforms.
  • PROMOTION & OUTREACH: Collaborate with the Manager of IT Training to promote the strategic vision of continual learning and digital literacy at the university Create a functional awareness about training through visual design, special communication efforts, video, and informational workshops. Partner with IT Communications to promote and raise awareness of training opportunities, events, and content.
  • PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Engages in professional development related activities.
  • OTHER: Is a vital member of Pepperdine IT's Client Services leadership team and staff. Upholds the University mission through work performed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Requires Bachelor's degree in related technical/business or education areas, or equivalent work experience. One (1) or more years of technical or business training experience required. Demonstrated ability to launch and deliver projects and training programs on-time and within budget. Excellent customer service, well-organized, thorough, high initiative, and excellent communication and business relationship skills working with multiple audiences and stakeholders at variety of levels and roles across the institution. Strong background working with and training on Google G Suite, learning management platforms, productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Office), and multiple platforms (e.g. Windows, Mac). Ability to quickly learn hardware, software, and technology services.

Preferred: Master's degree in related technical/business, education, or instructional design areas. Three (3) or more years of technical or business training experience preferred. Preference toward individuals with extensive experience working with higher education institutions. Strong skills in video/screen recording, video editing, audio editing, graphic design, Photoshop/image editing, web design (HTML/CSS), copy editing, and knowledge-base platforms preferred as well as a familiarity with PeopleSoft/ERP systems.
