Seaver College's study abroad department sends the highest percentage of students abroad in the nation. This important position in the office is responsible for leading recruitment and retention efforts by working collaboratively with office staff, faculty, student ambassadors, and others to maximize their efforts. In addition, this position oversees and manages all student development programs that prepare students to maximize their abroad experience as well as assists students in their transition back to the Malibu campus. This position is also responsible for leading Christian spiritual development activities, and directly supports the University's mission by providing emotional, spiritual, and social nurture for the students who comprise the heart of Seaver College.


  • Hire, lead and manage 16-20 student interns (media team, ambassador team, and student development team).
  • Lead and implement marketing, recruitment and retention strategies and efforts for all Seaver College study abroad offerings through targeted events, web, social media, and related communications.
  • Lead and execute student orientation programs, student reentry programs, Christian spiritual development programs, and other student affairs-related student preparation programs. Integrate Christian faith and student development theories and practice into these programs.
  • Hire, train and support resident advisors. Train and support abroad representatives.
  • Other projects and programs as assigned by supervisor.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; 3+ years marketing experience; 3+ years experience working with college students; Study abroad experience; Experience supervising college students; Program management experience; Understanding of college student development theory; Experience developing and executing marketing strategies; Negotiation and influence skills; High emotional intelligence abilities with college students; Strong public speaking skills; MAC OS; Adobe Photo Shop; Google applications; Social media account management. Personal faith in Jesus Christ; active involvement in a local church; demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University, seeking to help students develop lives of purpose, leadership and service.

Preferred: Master's degree; 5+ years marketing experience; 5+ years working with college students; Pepperdine study abroad experience; Experience hiring and training residence life staff; Team management and team leadership experience; Study abroad orientation management experience; Strong understanding of the skills needed for student study abroad success; Understanding and experience utilizing effective training methodologies; Cultural agility training skills; Video editing; Adobe Creative Suite.

This is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
