The Religion & Philosophy Division is one of eight academic divisions at Seaver College. It is tasked specifically with providing instruction in the Religion component of General Education Program, as well as granting undergraduate and graduate degrees. This position has two primary functions. The first is outward facing, to serve as the first point of contact for students, parents and prospective students seeking information. Secondly, this position facilitates the on-going, and day-to-day administrative activities within the division office; working closely with the Divisional Dean, Office Manager, and division faculty members. The division operates in conjunction with the Office of Church Relations, the Center for Faith and Learning, and the Office of Student Affairs to encourage Christian spiritual formation within the Pepperdine community, and to strengthen the University mission statement.

Duties

  • Assist the division in creating and distributing materials to promote the Religion & Philosophy Division among (current and prospective) students. This will include but is not limited to: maintaining digital platforms for the division as well as updating existing pamphlets and other printed materials.
  • Coordinate with the divisional dean in advising students and assist them in enrolling in classes offered by the Religion & Philosophy Division.
  • Coordinate with technology and facilities personnel to provide a healthy learning environment in classrooms used by the Religion & Philosophy Division.
  • Coordinate with the division staff in hiring, training, and supervising student workers in carrying out daily clerical responsibilities in the division office.
  • Other duties as assigned, particularly regarding the publication of the Leaven Journal.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: High School diploma or equivalent (with at least 3 years clerical experience); or Bachelor Degree. Enthusiastic and positive demeanor; ability to establish work priorities; strong communication skills both verbal and written; and knowledge of office procedures. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) & Google Docs.

Preferred: Web Design and Social Media skills. Experience with: 25Live, PeopleSoft, Nolji, Adobe Acrobat, familiarity with using an HTML editor.

This is a regular, nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
