This position supports planning, budgeting, and execution of School programming, special events, and general event management. Programs include internal and external facing events and activities of the school. The audience for these events include alumni, executives, faculty, staff, donors and/or students.


The position actively works to promote the mission of Pepperdine and the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School to develop value-centered leaders and advance responsible business practice. The position works to engage alumni and the business community, recognize Graziadio community members, support internal stakeholders, and to positively impact the greater community and enhance the reputation and visibility of the Graziadio School.

Duties

  • Support the Alumni and External Engagement department in planning, budgeting, and executing programs, special events, and activities to advance the reputation and visibility of the School, recognize Graziadio community members, engage alumni and donors, and support the Dean's vision and initiatives outlined in the School's strategic plan. Responsibilities will include meetings, event planning, outreach, communication & engagement of of alumni, donors, faculty, staff, students, and external constituents.
  • Engage executive-level speakers and thought leaders, notable alumni, donors, and key stakeholders to the School via programming and events. Develop methods and strategies at events to effectively engage alumni and donors to support the school in meaningful ways to help advance the School's strategic initiatives.
  • Develop marketing strategies and plans to accomplish event goals and objectives. Collaborate with Marketing and other internal stakeholders to market events via social media, email, signage, and other communication channels to increase attendance, engagement, and School's visibility.
  • Support internal School stakeholders (advancement, recruitment, career, program offices, executive education etc.) in advancing their strategic initiatives via events and programing. Leverage programming to engage alumni, and donors to support the School and strategic priorities of the Alumni and External Engagement department, the School, and the Dean.
  • Measure and monitor event budgets and outcomes to minimize costs, increase reputation and recognition, increase the affinity and engagement of alumni, donors, and enhance attendee experience and satisfaction.
  • Forge and cultivate relationships with key vendors & venues to develop partnerships, ensure optimal pricing, and minimize risk and liability.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; proficiency with Microsoft Office. 2-3 years’ experience in special event management (> 200 attendees) or corporate/PR relations. Experience in working with executives and recruiting C-level speakers. Experience in advertising, marketing, or external relations environment; superior written and verbal communication skills; clear personal initiative & strong ability to multi-task. Ability to plan and manage events of up to 300 people; Ability to negotiate with vendors and venues to obtain best pricing/deals. Ability to work with executive-level alumni and Corporate leaders. Microsoft Office, databases, financial software, event management, constituency management software.

Preferred: Ability to use social media platforms for promotion of events to the Pepperdine community.
Experience in operations management; corporate and external relations; development and implementation of social media and marketing strategies. Comfort engaging with Corporations and C-Level executives. Collaborative. Team player. Problem solver. Innovative. Efficient. Agile. Ability to work in a dynamic environment. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, Graduway, Fonteva, and HootSuite, Raiser’s Edge; WaveNet; Simpler.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
