The Assistant Director (AD) will manage, develop, and assess programs and trainings that provide first rate intercultural and diversity education, and student services that are designed to foster an inclusive environment where all student identities are affirmed and supported. In addition, the AD serves as an advisor, mentor, and advocate for underrepresented students and ICA student clubs. The AD provides administrative and clerical support, event coordination, assessment, and supervision of student affairs interns and undergraduate interns. As a staff member in Student Affairs who works closely with students, this person serves as a Christian role model to students and promotes a biblical worldview.


  • Train, advise, support, and supervise student leaders in the following areas: financial transactions, risk management, and event planning support. Conduct orientation and ongoing leadership development sessions. Work with Student Affairs Interns to approve and monitor all club activities. Forecast and monitor use of University and student organization resources (e.g. budget, equipment, etc.).
  • Promote community and be an active and accessible presence within the international student community on campus. Support the Director in the coordination and execution of culturally responsive engagement strategies and advocacy for international students. Collect/request and analyze data relevant to international student needs and support (OIE, IIIE, etc.); study and apply ideas from collected literature and articles pertaining to international student issues and support in higher education.
  • Create and facilitate diversity and social justice trainings and workshops for undergraduate student leaders.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively across the University to support ICA staff in the coordination, and execution of campus-wide events, including Culture Fest & Club Fair, Week of Peace, Hope & Justice, Loqui, and monthly heritage events.
  • Complete monthly and annual reports. Implement ongoing program assessment and evaluation plans (based on routine assessment practices) according to the Director's established goals and objectives.
  • Serve on the Residential Emergency Response Team and provide onsite emergency response coordination.
  • Attend convocation/chapel on a weekly basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master's degree in college student affairs, ministry, or education-related field preferred. Minimum two (2) year of experience in student learning and development, as well as experience advising student groups in a university setting. Minimum two (2) year of experience in a supervisory role. Personal faith in Jesus Christ; active involvement in a local church; demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University. Critical to this role is a demonstrated commitment and success working in a multicultural environment with a critical understanding of social justice issues in both student and workplace settings. The Assistant Director should have understanding of and passion for issues of diversity, especially issues of nationality, race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexuality, and how they intersect with other markers of identity. Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice. Well organized, strong detail-oriented administrative ability with event planning experience. Excellent interpersonal skills, intercultural responsiveness, ability to think critically, and team orientation. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong flexibility in working with a variety of work styles and backgrounds.
 Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Willingness to work irregular hours.

Preferred: Master's degree in college student affairs, ministry, or education-related field preferred. Four (4) or more years of progressive experience in student learning and development, as well as experience advising student groups in a university setting preferred. Proficiency in budget management and organizational assessment preferred. Experience and training in cultural responsiveness preferred. Ability to innovate and develop exemplary educational programs and practices. Proven program and event planning skills preferred. Knowledge of online student and financial information systems preferred.

This is a regular, nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
