This position provides comprehensive administrative support to the Vice Provost for Research and Strategic Initiatives. It is a position requiring efficiency, flexibility and attention to detail, the ability to solve problems and meet time-sensitive deadlines, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.


  • Provide logistical support to the Academic Affairs Committee (AAC) of the Board of Regents, the Advancement of Student Learning Council (ASLC), the University Planning Committee (UPC), etc. by scheduling meetings, reserving rooms and parking, placing catering orders and creating agendas, meeting minutes and other materials.
  • Schedule and maintain calendars.
  • Receive, prioritize telephone calls, correspondences, and requests.
  • Coordinate travel, conferences, and special events.
  • Design and create invitations and publicity content; assist with the design and preparation of presentations; maintain office websites; create and edit departmental documents.
  • Conduct online and other research as requested.
  • Assist the Vice Provost for Research and Strategic Initiatives with preparation of course materials, as well as book editing and other special projects.
  • Reconcile credit card statements and travel expenses.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; five years of professional office experience. Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and oral communication skills. Independently identify and process administrative tasks with minimal supervision. Evaluate and set workload priorities on assigned and self determined tasks. Demonstrate strong organization skills. Address and anticipate any problems and make change recommendations. Demonstrate a strong command of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Work within a high-speed environment independently. Multi-task and deal with rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrate high proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint.

Preferred: Previous higher education administrative experience. Experience in web design and maintenance (knowledge of OmniUpdate); graphic design experience (knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign).
