The Finance Office is committed to practicing fiscal responsibility by delivering analytical insight and providing operational services in the areas of financial planning, management, and reporting for the Graziadio School. The Finance Director is in charge of leading a team of three finance professionals to achieve this mission successfully. The role will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration.

Financial Planning:

  • Create revenue models to project impact of various enrollment scenarios
  • Design and implement effective budgeting policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with 25+ budget managers to establish a $45m+ operating budget
  • Generate and maintain pro forma financial statements to assess projected margins
Financial Management:
  • Improve the financial health of the School by analyzing data, assessing variances, identifying trends, and proposing corrective actions
  • Support initiatives by managing funding requests and monitoring strategic fund balances
  • Ensure data accuracy by offering training to constituents and enforcing policies and procedures
  • Increase productivity by developing and implementing process improvements
Financial Reporting:
  • Utilize cost allocation models to determine programmatic and geographic costs
  • Gauge financial performance by comparing pro forma financial statements with actual results
  • Perform ad hoc analytics to help the Leadership Team make informed financial decisions
  • Prepare regular financial reports and presentations that highlight trends and key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Mentor staff through regular one-on-one meetings and develop the team by identifying professional development opportunities
  • Facilitate periodic performance evaluations to offer feedback, encourage employee contribution, and establish goals
Strategic Leadership and Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Lead and support strategic initiatives as part of the School’s ambitious ASPIRE 2025 Plan
  • Uphold University mission through work performed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. At least five years of experience as a Manager or Director of Finance. This position must have a demonstrated ability to deliver results in a timely manner; the ability to work on multiple concurrent projects; maintain a log of outstanding projects to be completed; keep supervisor informed on progress of outstanding projects; and be able to quickly respond to shifting priorities of deliverables. This position will be required to understand oftentimes complex financial arrangements, identify and focus on the most salient aspects, and draw conclusions that may not be overtly obvious to the untrained eye. It also requires strong leadership skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills. See additional comment section below. Excel will be used constantly. Advanced Excel knowledge is required and the ability to practice proper Excel fundamentals and techniques is essential.

Preferred: MBA and/or CPA. A proven experience in higher education finance with particular expertise in the areas of enrollment planning, student aid evaluation, and salary analysis. Access will also be used and if the product is not already known, an aptitude to learn will be necessary.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
