General responsibility for carrying out the work tasks assigned by the Lead Coordinator at the Irvine Graduate Campus which has 25 classrooms and serves approximately 1,000 students per trimester. Some maintenance and repair of the furniture, fixtures and equipment used in the Campus's classrooms. Sets up classroom seating and class instruction configuration daily for evening classes, day-time rental activities, and various
other programs and events. Interfaces with faculty and students to assure facility comfort and cleanliness standards, including HVAC, janitorial, classrooms, restrooms, break rooms and open hallway areas.


  • Coordinate room configurations as specified in the daily schedule of classroom use for both school classes and daytime and weekend rental groups, and insure that any audio visual equipment required is in place and operating.
  • Ensure that facilities are cleaned and are in general good repair and maintained according to Graduate Campus' standards.
  • Responsible for monitoring classroom comfort, HVAC settings, restroom cleanliness, bulletin boards, posting class schedules and arranging for parking validations for students.
  • Perform or arrange for minor repairs to furniture, fixtures and equipment.
  • Interface with building management/engineer on routine building maintenance and repair issues. Bring larger issues to the Lead Coordinator''s attention and follow up to resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Minimum of High School Degree. Experience in working with customers in occasional stressful situations. General experience in facilities repair and maintenance, including furniture, fixtures and selected equipment.General understanding of classroom audiovisual equipment, HVAC systems, janitorial services, carpet maintenance, and general electrical and plumbing knowledge. Strong people skills. Good understanding of customer service. Ability to think on your feet and react quickly to problems. Good verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate. Trade tools for general repairs, hand dolly and PC.

Preferred: A maintenance mechanic background is desirable.

This is a regular, nonexempt, 30 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
