The primary purpose of the position of Executive Assistant to the Dean is to provide administrative support to the Dean and to manage the functions and responsibilities of the School of Law Dean's office effectively and efficiently. The Executive Assistant will provide accurate updating and confidential maintenance of correspondence/records; plan and implement events for the Dean's office in a professional and efficient manner; accurately and efficiently manage the Dean's communication flow and schedule; effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders/personnel in a helpful, responsive and respectful manner; acting as the Dean’s liaison to all constituents. The Executive Assistant to the Dean must maintain a flexible and responsive attitude and approach to completing tasks continually in a fast-paced environment, shifting priorities and tasks quickly and easily and completing all other assignments as assigned in a helpful and responsive manner.


  • Identify processes and tasks that will help the Dean manage information, data and key tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Respond to and identify needs/requests from faculty, students, university administrators, the legal community, staff, and other constituents as needed.
  • Research problems and issues relating to stakeholders and communicate with the Dean.
  • Manage relevant communication for the Dean including email, telephone, and written correspondence.
  • Apply technology support solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate special projects for the Dean, proactively researching and determining available resources.
  • Maintain organized and accurate records. Identify and utilize appropriate technologies/methodologies.
  • Develop and implement practical methods for recording, storing, and tracking key operating procedures effectively and efficiently.
  • Maintain and ensure the confidential and accurate storing and handling of correspondence, contracts, performance evaluations, and other relevant records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree.

Preferred: Proficient in MS Office, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Google Mail/Docs, Internet Explorer. Able to navigate internet for research purposes; demonstrate excellent written/oral communication skills; effective problem solver.

This is a regular, exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
