This position oversees the administrative needs of the Boone Center for the Family and provides comprehensive administrative assistance and support to the executive director, program directors, advisory board, and Savvy Chic committee and for various programs and events that the Center promotes. Contribution to the University's mission and strategic plan is made through the administrative assistant's continued work in the support of the Boone Center for the Family's mission to strengthen and promote healthy relationships in the lives of our current students, faculty and staff, alumni, and various churches and Christian organizations connected with the vision of Pepperdine.

Duties

  • Schedule seminar space, meetings, special events, and planning activities; collect, record, and deposit registration.
  • Manage day-to-day actives of data entry, credit card reconciliation, reports, and other information requiring the ability to read and understand budgets and provide proper accounting of funds.
  • Maintain BCFF website in coordination with University Communication; update advisory board, create graphics, registration modules, etc. as needed; update BCFF calendar and Facebook pages as needed.
  • Schedule and execute planning meeting for Savvy Chic fund raiser; take notes/follow up as required;coordinate with the University Advancement and Events with vapors aspects of the annual event, including silent auction.
  • Serve as liaison for the Boone Center staff with various University departments and outside contacts to accomplish BCFF goals; answer phones and process messages and mail.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the growing contacts of those who have attended trainings, seminars, and conferences the center has hosted.
  • Create and edit correspondence, including newsletters, emails communication, forms, reports, and various communications as required.
  • Serve as the liaison with Integrated Marketing and Communications Department and oversee various content across different digital platforms including social media.
  • Facilitate relationships between the churches, organizations and academic institutions in helping set up conferences, speaking engagements, trainings, and consultations for clientele the Center serves.
  • Participate in various staff, team, and committee meetings and activities.
  • Perform others duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Basic office experience; strong computer skills; proficiency and confidence in Excel, Word, Access, Constant Contact; strong oral and written communication skills; the ability to assist with event coordination; effective interpersonal and public relations skills; the qualities of a self-starter; strong organizational skills; the ability to work as a team member; the ability to understand and read a budget.

Preferred: College degree; minimum three years' office experience; knowledge of University systems and procedures; knowledge of University software systems including Peoplesoft and Raisers Edge; ability to help with design for newsletters; ability to assist with email and other office correspondence; limited experience with maintaining social media sites.

This is a regular, nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience
