The purpose of the Marketing & Events Coordinator is to provide the marketing, event planning, and administrative needs of the Boone Center for the Family and to provide comprehensive administrative assistance and support to the executive director, program directors, advisory board, and Friends of the Family League committee and for various programs and events that the Center promotes. Contribution to the University's mission and strategic plan is made thought the Marketing and Event Coordinator's plan continued work in the support of the Boone Center for the Family's mission to strengthen and promote healthy relationships in the lives of our current students, faculty and staff, alumni and various churches and Christian organizations connected with the vision of Pepperdine.

Duties

  • Serve as the liaison with Integrated Marketing and Communications Department and oversee various content across different digital platforms including social media. Create and edit correspondence, including newsletters, invitations, email communication, forms, reports, and various communications as required. Implement and execute all distribution of marketing materials.
  • Oversee all activities pertaining to event planning including invitations, reservations of facilities, meal planning, decor and hotel reservations. Responsible to collect, record, and process registration information in a clear and organized manner.
  • Maintain BCFF website in coordination with University Communication; create graphics, registration modules, etc. as needed; update BCFF calendar and Facebook pages as needed. Integrate brand by unifying the design, signage, and message for the center.
  • Manage day-to-day activities of data entry, credit card reconciliation, reports and other information requiring the ability to read and understand budgets and provide proper accounting of funds.
  • Maintain database of contacts and event attendees through Constant Contact; maintain database of advisory and other board information and produce mailings. Understand and implement how to manage/target multiple lists of recipients for specialized and personalized written and digital communication.
  • Serve as liaison for the Boone Center staff with various University departments, as well as outside contacts to accomplish BCFF goals; answer phones, maintain office inventory, order supplies and process messages and mail.
  • Participate in various staff, team, and committee meetings and activities.
  • Schedule and execute planning meeting for annual fundraiser; take notes/follow up as required; coordinate with the University Advancement and Events with various aspects of the annual event, including silent auction.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the growing contacts of those who have attended trainings, seminars, and conferences the center has hosted.
  • Gather and interpret information from marketing analytics in order to determine program success and/or make changes to current projects to increase success.
  • Initiate technical and operational requests regarding computer, telephone needs, and physical facility problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Basic office experience, comfortable and confident in computer skills, strong oral and written communication skills, assistance in event coordination skills, effective interpersonal and public relations skills, self starter, strong organizational skills and ability to work as a team member. Ability to understand and read a budget is also required. Computer and software knowledge. Strong in written and oral communication. Ability to read and understand a budget. Proficient with Excel, Word, Access, Constant Contact.

Preferred: College degree preferred; minimum three years office experience preferred. Knowledge of University systems and procedures. University software systems including Peoplesoft and Raisers Edge. Design for newsletters, email and other office correspondence. Limited experience with maintaining social media sites.
