The Assistant to the Senior Vice Chancellor serves as colleague and partner in the operations in the office of the Senior Vice Chancellor; provides detailed administrative and management support for the Senior Vice Chancellor; and assists in maintaining and cultivating numerous important relationships and serving members of various constituencies which support the University. This position will initiate and maintain regular contact with individuals who are, or will likely become, able to benefit the University in some way, including high profile and public figures, major donors & prospects, alumni, parents, and friends of the University. Supports the SVC in his efforts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward these relationships. The success of our mission to strengthen lives for purpose, service, and leadership depends, in a large part, on the strong financial support this team provides.

Duties

  • Assist the Senior Vice Chancellor in developing and maintaining relationships with donors, prospective donors, members of various Pepperdine boards, public figures, parents, alumni, etc.
  • Manage and execute various assigned projects, including mass mailings, writing of proposals, extensive list development and maintenance, telephone campaigns, etc. on behalf of the Senior Vice Chancellor.
  • Oversee and supervise luncheons, dinners, receptions, and other events for the Senior Vice Chancellor and on his behalf; handle and record all incoming phone calls.
  • Manage and sort incoming mail, initiate response where appropriate, compose and execute various correspondence and reports. Manage the appointment calendar for the office, track internal and external meetings, and make airline and other travel arrangements for the Senior Vice Chancellor.
  • Manage Seaver Board of Visitors.
  • Supervise student workers and oversee their assigned projects.
  • Organize and maintain office files and supplies; review all office expenditures, prepare expense reports, and reconcile department budgets.
  • Act in the absence of the Senior Vice Chancellor to trouble-shoot and maintain relationships with their contacts and with University officials, staff etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; one year of general office experience; strong oral and written communication; extremely professional and excellent attention to detail; calm demeanor, must be able to multi task and work well under pressure; strong organizational skills; excellent judgment, discretion and confidentiality; PC-literate with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, preferably Word, Excel and Powerpoint

Preferred: Two years of general office experience; working knowledge of Raiser's Edge, C2C and Auction software

Salary: Commensurate with experience
