The Temporary Talent Management Specialist (TM Specialist) is in charge of supporting the Talent Management department in the hiring, on-boarding and staff development areas at the Graduate School of Education and Psychology (GSEP). Some key responsibilities will be managing application inquires, interview processes, on-boarding checklists, staff development opportunities, and monthly staff meetings.

Duties

  • Coordinates the GSEP hiring process which is designed to eliminate bias, assure equity, and assess both culture and talent fit.
  • Manage monthly staff meetings and incorporate ongoing opportunities for staff to grow professionally. Help incorporate initiatives that promote employee engagement with the GSEP community and reinforce our Pepperdine pride.
  • Manages on-boarding and off-boarding processes. In order to properly and sufficiently introduce new employees to the GSEP and to Pepperdine University more broadly, this role builds upon the existing University employee orientation and oversees the GSEP specific on-boarding experience for new employees that reinforces our organizational culture.
  • Liaise between GSEP and University Human Resources (HR), actively helping to implement practices and programs developed by University HR.
  • Completes all administrative tasks for productivity and compliance of the Talent Management department.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Upholds the University's mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master's degree; two to three years of experience in human resources or significant experience in a relevant discipline; knowledge in the areas of HR and talent management related to training and development; experience with employee on-boarding; experience with performance management; the ability to analyze data and make recommendations; a proven knowledge of industry best practices is essential. This position will use a laptop daily. The TM Specialist will be required to communicate via Google Mail, work within the Google Suites, create and give presentations.

Preferred: Five years' working in an HR environment; demonstrated knowledge around employee engagement; creating a rewarding and fun work environment; and effective hiring practices is preferred; experience with PeopleSoft, PageUp, Kronos, or other comparable data management systems is preferred.

This is a restricted, nonexempt, 40 hour per week position with an expected duration of six months.
