The Advisor, Recruitment and Advising position is designed to encourage and guide applicants to complete the enrollment process in a full-time graduate program at the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School. This position works closely with an external audience of applicants, admits, intended, and enrolled students and internally with Recruitment, Financial Aid, and Programs, as well as Admission during the application completion and yield process. This position performs functions critical for maintaining a student-focused environment dedicated to operational excellence, effective enrollment management, and applicant satisfaction with admission and enrollment services at the Pepperdine Business School.

The Advisor must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and relate well to prospective and continuing students as well as administration, faculty, and staff. The incumbent must excel in relationship-building and organizational skills, be able to multitask, work independently and as a team player, and have an aptitude for communications-focused objectives.

Must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese.


  • Maintain ongoing communication with PGBS applicants in support of enrollment, academic, and institutional goals. 
  • Identify, contact, and maintain relationships with prospective students, advise and facilitate student applications, guide applied students in completing the admission and enrollment process.
  • Create an annual directory of current student, alumni, faculty contacts and classes open for prospects/applicants/admitted students to attend in support of PGBS enrollment. 
  • Monitor and communicate to deferred enrollments and wait-listed applicants.
  • Assist candidates with completing their application files for committee review. 
  • Some travel required (domestic/international) to promote the Graziadio Business School program portfolio at various recruiting events/conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Minimum of 2 years in admission, recruitment, or student services. Must be detail-oriented and results-driven with strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills. Must be customer service oriented and a team-player. Strong ability to plan and prioritize. Must be fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, familiarity with imaging systems. Must be able to quickly assimilate new software, commercial databases, portal, and web sites.

Preferred: Master's degree. 3+ years of proven track record in higher education admission, recruitment, administration, and student systems. Proven track-record showing ability to work under pressure in education administration environment. Proficiency in Salesforce, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, Slate, or other CRM-related tools.

This is a Restricted, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
