The Assistant Director, Pepperdine Fund Programs oversees and manages the initiatives and office support required to implement an effective and increasingly vibrant culture of philanthropy.  Creating broad education initiatives for students and expanded appeal opportunities like Give2Pepp for parents, alumni, and faculty/staff increases alumni giving percentages in sustainable ways.  The Assistant Director, Pepperdine Fund Programs provides the necessary leadership and management for the annual giving program to impact the University's goal of creating a vibrant alumni donor base.  Alumni giving via successful mass appeals supports both the financial needs the University must fulfill to accomplish its strategic plan, and, additionally, counts as a proxy vote of satisfaction for Pepperdine when it comes to university rankings.


  • Oversee, implement, and manage the culture of philanthropy initiatives via educational and solicitation campaigns for both current students and alumni utilizing Give2Pepp as an annual university-wide capstone giving event. Increase participation annually.
  • Hire and manage the Seaver Class Giving Officer supporting the oversight, development and operation of the Student Philanthropy Council. Provide support, training, and best practice leadership for the culture of philanthropy initiatives designed to encourage student giving. Create metrics, meet quotas.
  • Further develop the club membership program for Seaver College, and the 1937 society. The program should include acquisition, retention, and stewardship strategies and must create a dynamic and vibrant society of enthusiasts who give annually and act as culture of philanthropy brand ambassadors. Create metrics, meet quotas.
  • Oversee and manage office tasks for Pepperdine Fund initiatives including managing calendars, making policy requests, facilitating meeting schedules, inventorying and ordering supplies, and providing the director and associate director with staff insights and additional support whenever needed.
  • Provide redundancy for key systems in Pepperdine Fund operations including but not limited to PeopleSoft, Open AP invoice processing, Raiser's Edge, NetCommunity, 25 Live, Salesforce CRM, Community Funded, email systems, etc.
  • Initiate and lead the collaboration efforts with other university-wide departments to maximize existing opportunities and to develop new partnerships.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree or functional equivalent via job experience; superior written and oral communication skills; demonstrated experience supervising others, working with students, office management; ability to synthesize and analyze data; knowledge of project management, supervision of teams, coordination of office systems and equipment; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred: Graduate degree or functional equivalent via job experience, 2-5 years' non-profit management experience, budget management experience, previous Pepperdine University relationship experience (i.e. alumnus or employee). Working knowledge of Pepperdine platforms, including Blackbaud's NetCommunity and Raiser's Edge
