The Pepperdine Fund Coordinator supports all aspects of the annual giving office's fundraising efforts. The position exists to facilitate all campaigns and all mass appeal initiatives. The Coordinator role provides direct support to the Senior Manager and Associate Director, and together they help fulfill the overall objectives of the department, directly impacting the University's goal of creating a vibrant alumni donor base. Alumni giving, via successful mass appeals, bridges the financial gap that the University must overcome to accomplish its strategic plan, and additionally, counts as a proxy vote of satisfaction for Pepperdine as measured by University rankings.


  • Provide support for all mass appeal campaigns (i.e., telemarketing, direct mail, online, ongoing, events); assist in developing all online campaign initiatives using e-mail, giving pages, social media presence development, implementing social media educational and stewardship campaigns, crowdfunding campaigns, and tracking online analytics.
  • Act as gift processor, liaising with Advancement Gifts and Records on a daily basis to ensure seamless gift processing and compliance with current best practices and procedures, including thank-you letters, acknowledgments, gift receipting, and donor stewardship.
  • Support all annual giving efforts with membership drives, donor stewardship, renewal and reminder processes; create, track, and maintain a legacy society program, recommend improvements for quality control and ongoing development of membership programs.
  • Run and compile weekly, monthly and quarterly revenue and donor count reports for all campaigns University-wide, using database systems (e.g., Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge).
  • Recruit, train, and oversee student workers and interns who are employed in the Pepperdine Fund department.
  • Monitor and initiate daily Pepperdine Fund office communication with internal and external stakeholders (e.g., colleagues, alumni, donors) by phone, mail, email, and in-person.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.); computer proficiency; exposure to office protocols (e.g. emailing, calendaring, multitasking, etc.). Excellent written and oral communication; strong decision-making, organizational, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven atmosphere; detail-oriented; ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with highly sensitive information. Google Apps and Microsoft Office Suite proficiency, including Gmail, Google Docs and Sheets, Google Slides, Powerpoint, Word, and Excel.

Preferred: Seeking master’s degree or additional certification; desire to work in higher education and/or non-profit fundraising; customer service experience; project management experience; exposure to non-profit or fundraising work; marketing and/or advertising experience. Project management; database management; record processing; appeal authoring, creative writing, or copy editing; mass email proficiency. Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge, email marketing software (e.g. Constant Contact, MailChimp, etc.), Salesforce, content management systems, web development (e.g. html, CSS), crowdfunding, WYSWYG editors, etc.
