This position will serve in the key strategic role of leading the recruitment and outreach effort of the Pepperdine Graziadio Business School (PGBS) in support of its annual goals for new student enrollment and retention. The Senior Director (or Executive Director, depending on experience and qualifications) will oversee the Recruitment superstructure within the division of Enrollment Management, encompassing the full range of activities and processes designed to identify and attract qualified applicants for the programs offered through the three main program portfolios at the School: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Executive Programs.


  • Recruitment Strategy Execution: Lead the PGBS Recruitment superstructure, comprising three distinct recruitment teams (for the Full-Time, Part-Time, and Executive Program verticals) and the Enrollment Engagement unit in the development and execution of a comprehensive recruitment and engagement strategy for prospective students. Manage the execution of ongoing departmental priorities with regard to prospect communication, engagement, and optimally leveraging the PGBS customer relations management (CRM) system toward meeting seasonal recruitment goals. Create and maintain a collaboration routine among the teams (meetings, trainings, working sessions, retreats, etc.) to ensure effective communication, alignment of objectives, coordination of efforts. Partner with PGBS Corporate Relations to leverage existing and new corporate channels for strengthening lead generation and expanding prospective student pipelines. Maintain currency on external trends, patterns, developments, and market conditions that may inform School-wide recruitment and enrollment strategies.
  • Staff Management and Supervision: Guide and oversee departmental activities associated with staff hiring, onboarding, training, and continued development. Work with recruitment directors to create and implement comprehensive training plans for each of their teams, grounded in strong knowledge of PGBS programs, a shared service philosophy, emphasis on key performance indicators, and a keen understanding of the consultative sales process. Promote a collaborative and mutually supportive culture (both within Recruitment and interdepartmentally), leading to productive cross-functional partnerships (e.g., with Admission, Enrollment Engagement, Financial Aid, Program Offices) in service of broader PGBS goals.
  • Program Marketing and Promotion: Develop and maintain an ongoing collaboration strategy with PGBS Marketing to create and deliver accurate, up-to-date, and high-impact content designed to promote PGBS programs and attract prospective students. Engage relevant stakeholders (faculty committees, academic directors, associate deans, program offices, and others) to gain extensive knowledge and familiarity with program-specific needs, objectives, strengths, opportunities, and distinctive features that will inform targeted program promotion and lead generation strategies.
  • Department Administration: Oversee and manage department budgets, approve operating expenses, and ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources toward meeting departmental objectives. Participate in annual budget development and submission process with the PGBS Finance Office. Conduct ongoing assessment of systems, structures, and staffing needs for optimal departmental operations. In consultation with the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and the PGBS Talent Management Office, develop a sustainable plan to ensure proper resourcing and support for meeting departmental priorities.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience managing admission/recruitment functions in a higher education context. Three or more years of experience with staff hiring, supervision, evaluation, and general management-related responsibilities. Experience with designing, planning, and implementing processes and activities germane to new student recruitment, admission, and yield. Demonstrated knowledge of key functions, processes, strategies, and practices involved in managing the recruitment and admission cycle in a college or university setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively engage a range of stakeholders, including but not limited to prospective and current students, staff, faculty, administrators, industry representatives, and alumni. Ability to critically examine complex and evolving situations and exercise sound, evidence-based judgment. Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration, negotiate competing priorities and/or conflicting perspectives, and facilitate multi-stakeholder consensus. Highly proficient in Google-based platforms, MS Office-Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, file sharing, mobile devices, PC, Mac, phones, scanning, and copiers/printers.

Preferred: Advanced degree (master’s level or beyond) and 7+ years of progressively responsible experience managing admission/recruitment functions in the context of professional graduate programs (preferably within a business school). Extensive experience with staff supervision, strategic delegation of responsibilities, workflow management, and handling complex personnel matters. Firm understanding of the entire student life-cycle within higher education and the pre-admission factors that influence retention and success. Active engagement with relevant professional organizations (e.g., GMAC, NAGAP) and connection with counterpart functional areas/colleagues at other institutions of higher education. Experience with international student recruitment and candidate pipeline development through industry/corporate networks. Competency with data analytics and predictive modeling to inform and enhance enrollment management strategies. Awareness of broader market conditions and external variables that impact recruitment and enrollment outcomes, and the ability to translate abstract ideas into actionable plans. Possession of a well-developed organizational management philosophy and the ability to apply effective management approaches to form and sustain high-performing teams. Aptitude for learning and implementing new technologies and devices; experience with Salesforce CRM and PeopleSoft student records management system.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
