The Associate Program Director serves a key role in ensuring excellence for Pepperdine GSEP programs at multiple campuses. The current program assignments for this role are the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT), Teacher Preparation programs, and Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). In addition to education program responsibilities, this Associate Program Director will oversee the Dissertation filing process. This individual is a point of contact for all other persons who provide leadership, instruction, and support services for the programs. The Associate Program Director works directly and collaboratively with program directors, administration, faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and program partners in the planning, implementation, coordination of program operations and support to successfully accomplish program goals. Note: Associate Program Director program assignments may change based on enrollment and divisional needs.

Duties

  • Collaborate with Program Directors on planning and implementation of program goals and objectives. Record and distribute minutes at monthly faculty meetings; provide follow up that supports program initiatives. Assist Program Directors in facilitating advisory board meetings and provide program data to the Director of Assessment and Accreditation.
  • Hire adjunct faculty for the assigned program. Facilitate new adjunct faculty training and ongoing support. Facilitate full-time faculty load communications in collaboration with the Associate Dean of Education. Create, manage and communicate current and future course schedule offerings and term schedule. Manage program project sites on Courses (Powered by SAKAI).
  • Support Seaver College students by overseeing the program admissions process and processing the Susan K. Giboney and Teacher Preparation Program scholarship applications.
  • Independently plans, organizes, and implements logistics for new student orientations and student symposiums emphasizing University mission; Creates assessments and gathers data to continually enhance the student experience.
  • Provide leadership in partnering with all departments to ensure that services and support are student-centered. Gain in-depth knowledge of education programs and comply with University policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; two years' experience in education field; ability to hire, train, and supervise personnel; problem-solving and conflict resolution skills; excellent communication, collaboration, and relationship skills; ability to organize, prioritize, and sustain productivity; initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively; ability to manage a heavy workload with competing deadlines; knowledge of University policy and procedure; ability to operate a computer, copier, fax, phone; experience with Google Suite
Presentation programs (ppt, prezi, etc.) and Adobe Suite

Preferred: Master's degree; experience in higher education setting; skillful use of technology
