Assistant/Associate Director, Fully-Employed Program Administration

This position will serve in a mid-level management role, with specific responsibility for leading the program advisement function served by the Fully Employed Program Office. The incumbent will serve a key role in managing the program advisement-related systems and processes that support student academic progress, retention, and degree completion.

Duties

  • Lead program advisement function and related mechanisms and processes within Fully Employed Program Office; supervise team of academic advisors and ensure alignment of advisement-related systems and protocols across programs and campus locations.
  • Manage student issues that escalate beyond academic advisor level. Collaborate with supervisor, program faculty, department chairs, and senior administration, as warranted, to develop solutions.
  • In consultation with the Director of Fully Employed Programs, manage the ongoing course planning and scheduling cycle within the Fully Employed Programs.
  • Closely collaborate with Director of Fully Employed Programs on the planning and execution of new student orientation and onboarding activities on behalf of Fully Employed Programs. 
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of student information resources through various activities and information channels (e.g., New Student Orientation, Resource Fairs, Program Office e-Bulletin, etc.)
  • Leverage available and emerging technology tools to enhance program advisement practices and the effectiveness of resources provided by the Program office. 
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Uphold the University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master's degree and familiarity with the role and functions of an academic program office within a college/university setting.
Three (3) or more years as an academic advisor/counseling or a comparable role, with exposure to diverse student populations. Knowledge of principles and practices related to academic program operations. Strong interpersonal skills and service orientation. Effective strategies for managing entry- to mid-level professional staff, including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and comfort incorporating technology into daily work. Competency with Microsoft Office products, Google-based applications, and current virtual communication methods/tools (e.g., Zoom).

Preferred: Master's degree in Education, Counseling, Human Development, or other related area.
Two (2) or more years serving in a management role within an academic or administrative department at a college/university. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in the development and implementation of new ideas and initiatives. Strategic approach to goal-setting, prioritizing, delineating objectives, and instituting accountability measures to carry out projects from inception to completion. Familiarity with PeopleSoft university database.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
