The primary purpose of this position is to provide expertise for administration of GSEP's virtual, application and backup server infrastructure, to provide hands-on support for the deployment og GSEP IT services, to provide IT training support for GSEP faculty/staff and to provide shared support for the design/upkeep of GSEP web sites/web applications. As a member of the GSEP Technology Team, this position supports GSEP's faculty/staff/students by administering GSEP's server infrastructure, deploying IT services, providing IT training and maintaining GSEP's web sites/web applications. These functions support the University's mission and strategic plan by directly/indirectly enhancing the academic, research and adminstrative services provided/used by GSEP faculty/staff/students.

Duties

  • Provide support for setup, administration and maintenance of GSEP's virtual, application and backup servers providing multiple IT services to the GSEP faculty and staff
  • Collaboratively perform website/applications design, database development & query functions assigned to GSEP Technology. - 
  • Prioritize, develop and deliver training on new learning technology solutions used by GSEP faculty/staff.
  • Provide deployment and implementation support for all existing and future services provided by GSEP Technology.
  • Work with the GSEP IT Help Desk to identify ways to improve overall day-to-day IT support to faculty and staff and to provide senior level assistance for complex service desk requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Requires bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field. Minimum of 3 years of professional level experience in a "hands on" IT technical support, web application development and systems/network administration role. Windows, Linux and Mac OS X servers, LAMP stack, VMWare ESX 5 or higher, Web Content Management Systems, LDAP Fundamentals, HTML, CSS, PHP & SQL, Virtual Server Backup and Replication.

Preferred: Master's degree in computer science, information technology or related field. 4 years of professional level experience in a "hands on" IT technical support, web application development, and systems/network administration role. Citrix Xen Desktop or VMWare View, Networking Concepts, Storage Area Networks, End User training experience, IT Helpdesk Administration, Video/Web Conferencing Tools, Learning Management System, Linux and Mac OS X command line administration.
