management's ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. This is an ideal role
for an individual seeking to develop a broad skill set in budgeting and financial reporting, while also
building strong business relationships with both internal and external constituents. 

The Financial Analyst role will assist the Office of Financial Planning in leading the annual budget planning process for Pepperdine University's five schools and all administrative areas. This role will help in the preparation of financial reports and analysis for major area budget managers, University leadership, the Board of Regents, and external audiences such as credit rating agencies. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will have a role in maintaining the University planning and budgeting EPM system (Oracle PBCS) and will be responsible for assisting budget managers in budget management and with posting budget adjustment requests to the University's ERP system (Oracle PeopleSoft).


  • Review, edit, and post budget adjustment requests. Coordinate with major area budget managers to facilitate budget management.
  • Provide institutional financial information for surveys requested by various external entities.
  • In coordination with major area budget managers, monitor GL journal postings and verify sufficient departmental budget exists. Resolve journals that exceed budget as they occur and gain an understanding of revenue and expense drivers across the University.
  • Assist in compiling and uploading data to Oracle PBCS (Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service - the University's planning and budgeting system) during the budget process.
  • Routinely maintain and update various financial schedules used by University personnel and leadership for decision making.
  • Assist in month-end variance analyses as well as ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting, finance, economics, business). Experience with analytical tools; excellent critical thinking skills; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Strong PC skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred: Experience with Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS); Oracle PeopleSoft; Database management.
