The Director of the RISE program leads resilience education efforts (in dimensions of physical, spiritual, cognitive, social service and life-skills) that contribute to student success and ultimately lives of purpose, service, and leadership.

Duties

  • Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate staff. Set strategic direction for department and student development in partnership with direct supervisor and the Vice President of Student Affairs. Responsible for annual performance reviews, staff development and morale, planning, and professional development. Create and submit ongoing reporting as well as annual reports on time. Assess programs and services, manage all related budgets, and prepare variance reports.
  • Develop and deploy resilience curriculum through RISE events, partnership with faculty and other student facing departments.
  • Conduct relevant research, creating partnerships with other staff and faculty, when possible. Write or speak on these topics in relevant professional organization and publications.
  • Assess the unique needs of each school population and develop relevant programming that addresses these needs. Assess existing electronic platforms to deliver content through apps and other remote means.
  • Identify potential grant opportunities and partner with Research and Sponsored Programs to write and manage grants that support the interest of RISE.
  • Collaborate with other Student Affairs department to integrate resilience education in existing programs.
  • Oversee the development of marketing and promotional materials.
  • Attend chapel and participate in spiritual life programs.
  • Serve as a resource to the Student Care Team when called upon.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Masters degree in public health, health promotion, health, mental health or education related field. Five years of experience working with college students; experience planning and giving presentations and developing curriculum.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to develop positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Excellent interpersonal skills as well as written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated knowledge or resilience programming for young adults as well as best practices in the field. Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and fiscal management, along with supervision of professional staff and demonstrated progressive leadership responsibilities. Commitment and understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice. Personal faith in Jesus Christ; active involvement in a local church; demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University. Computer and standard office equipment; Google Suite

Preferred: PhD. or other terminal degree in public health, health promotion, or other health or mental health related field. Eight plus years working with college students. Experience in grant writing, management, and data interpretation. Demonstrated ability to secure funding for programming. Successful history of collaboration in with research colleagues, publications and presentations related to student health and student success. Knowledge of statistical software (SPSS).

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
