Works closely with the Manager of Technology & Learning and IT Training to assess the technology training needs of constituents using university-wide technology and to create, lead, and promote a culture of continual learning and digital literacy at Pepperdine University.


  • TRAINING & SUPPORT: Creates and manages multimedia content for documentation, videos, graphics, presentations, and other learning content for online, print, in-person training, and other deliverables/platforms. Plans the appropriate training schedules, works with others to schedule the training rooms, ensures the training rooms are adequate, judges the effectiveness of current training content and methods, and identifies new training methods using the latest technology.
  • COMMUNICATION & RELATIONSHIPS: Represents Pepperdine and IT in a professional manner when collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Develops and maintains strong partnerships with campus personnel and departments to assure current and future operation success. Creates a functional awareness about training through visual design, special communication efforts, video, and informational workshops. Partners with IT Communications to promote and raise awareness of training opportunities, events, and content.
  • RESEARCH & ANALYSIS: Collaborates with IT and other colleagues on appropriate training for new IT product or service launches or changes. Visits with IT and departmental support colleagues to learn about common community issues and identify opportunities for education initiatives. Visits with end users to learn their business practices. Develops classes, documentation, learning aids, and professional development programs based primarily on customer needs. Conducts outreach to the University community to determine needs and build relationships. Researches emerging technologies for application at the university. Participates in viewing training attendance and responses and provides recommendations on continuous improvement. 
  • ADMINISTRATION: Reviews and submits regular paperwork and processes, such as status reports, bi-weekly or monthly timesheets, assessments for mid-year and annual reviews, and other routine IT and University practices.
  • COLLABORATION As needed or required: Provides backup support and assistance to other team members. Collaborates with co-workers and university colleagues on departmental, division-wide, and institutional projects. Shares process information and makes informal recommendations on how to improve processes and overall job execution within team/department.
  • COMMITTEES As needed or required: Serves on various committees within the Information Technology division. Participates in external university committees.
  • DEVELOPMENT As needed or required: Attends trainings, vendor presentations, user group meetings, conferences and seminars. Engages regularly in individual professional development related activities to remain current with industry technology trends and work processes.
  • BEYOND JOB DUTIES As needed or required: Volunteers to undertake tasks that stretch the employee's capabilities. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Requires Bachelor's degree in related technical/business or education areas, or equivalent work experience. One (1) or more years of technical or business training experience required. Required Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated ability to launch and deliver projects and training programs on-time and within budget. Excellent customer service, well-organized, thorough, high initiative, and excellent communication and business relationship skills working with multiple audiences and stakeholders at variety of levels and roles across the institution. Required Technology/Software/Equipment:
Strong background working with and training on Google G Suite, Zoom, learning management platforms, productivity software (e.g. Microsoft Office), and multiple platforms (e.g. Windows, Mac). Ability to quickly learn hardware, software, and technology services.

Preferred: Preferred Education/Training/Experience:
Master's degree in related technical/business, education, or instructional design areas. Three (3) or more years of technical or business training experience preferred. Preference toward individuals with extensive experience working with higher education institutions. Preferred Technology/Software/Equipment:
Strong skills in video/screen recording, video editing, audio editing, graphic design, Photoshop/image editing, web design (HTML/CSS), copy editing, and knowledge-base platforms preferred as well as a familiarity with PeopleSoft/ERP systems.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
