The Pepperdine Fund Seaver Class Giving Officer will develop and execute multiple campaigns, including digital initiatives, to create a culture of philanthropy. This position will be responsible for the programs and events that educate, convert and steward students so they become donors before they graduate. The position focuses on Seaver College, but the initiatives developed will be transferable to the graduate schools. The Class Giving Officer position will have a significant impact on the annual giving program's sustainability. Converting current students into educated donors while they are at Pepperdine is vital in order to create a future marked by a vibrant alumni donor base. Student and alumni giving through successful appeal campaigns supports both the financial needs the University must fulfill to accomplish its strategic plan and counts as a proxy vote of satisfaction for Pepperdine when it comes to university rankings.


  • Develop, plan and execute Seaver specific giving initiatives including education, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, recognition and retention components across all four Seaver classes and some recent alumni.
  • Oversee giving events and campaigns for Seaver students including Waves Weekend, Waves of Thanks, Giving Tuesday, Give2Pepp, and the Senior $5 for 5.
  • Lead, oversee, promote and empower the Seaver Student Philanthropy Council in their efforts to scale student education and student giving, and to spearhead giving initiatives across all four Seaver classes.
  • Lay program foundations with documented partners, internal vendors, correct budget allocations, innovative solutions to existing obstacles, detailed plans of action for specific initiatives and adequate recording processes.
  • Pioneer initiatives to collaborate with Greek life, Housing and Residence Life, Convocation, etc. making charitable giving back to Pepperdine as popular at Seaver College as supporting other non-profit charities.
  • Identify, recruit and train both faculty and staff partners as well as student volunteers, broadening the base of peer-to-peer giving opportunities and the understanding by all about why giving matters.
  • Meet fundraising donor count goals and benchmarks by measuring with clear guidelines and metrics for evaluating ongoing progress and fulfilling quarterly quotas.
  • Study best practices at successful schools with well developed student giving campaigns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree, Office Outlook proficiency, superior written and oral communication skills. Non-profit, fundraising, or project management experience via employment or internships. Microsoft Office and Google Suite, email systems, ability to multi-task, ability to work with a team as well as independently, ability to execute large scale projects with attention to great detail, ability to create and execute timelines, ability to initiate objectives that achieve departmental goals, ability to mobilize student groups and student volunteers.

Preferred: Project management training, experience with teams and collaborative groups, fundraising or non-profit experience, student engagement background, marketing, sales, web/social media campaigns. Annual giving experience and/or development / advancement or fundraising experience via non-profit or panhellenic efforts. Superior data management skills, web development background, project management background, University development or annual fund/advancement experience, public speaking. Working knowledge of Pepperdine platforms (i.e. Raiser's Edge, PeopleSoft).
