The purpose of this position is to work directly with students to coach them on their career plans and job search strategies, and to provide a variety of resources to support their short, medium and long term career success. In addition, this role will work on a wide range of value-added initiatives designed to support the Career and Professional Development in achieving best practices and broader organizational goals. This position also directly enables students to develop additional professional and leadership skills, supporting the University's mission of preparing students to lead lives of purpose, service and leadership. This role also promotes other events and enrichment opportunities for students that will foster a lifelong relationship with Pepperdine and the Graziadio Business School, thereby enhancing the University's overall brand and reputation.

Duties

  • Coaching Services: Coach and communicate with students on career planning and job search preparation, develop students' mindset and skill set to effectively and proactively execute job search strategies, enhance fluency in approaching/interacting/interviewing with employers, increase networking and targeting of potential opportunities, and increase job placement outcomes.
  • Employer Outreach: Communicate and connect with employers and alumni to build professional relationships with the ultimate goal of sourcing internships and full time job opportunities for students. Support and sustain new relationships on an ongoing basis working in conjunction with the Employer Engagement and Alumni Relations staff.
  • Program Development: Develop program offerings and special projects that enhance the services of the Career Office, and enhance student participation throughout their time at Graziadio.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of ongoing initiatives for the Career and Professional Development group, including building strong cross-functional relationships and synergy with other departments and staff throughout PGBS.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in business, counseling, or related. Masters Degree in business, counseling, or related. Three years experience in higher education. Counseling of students in an academic environment. Designing, developing and leading workshops. Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office, Google, database management software.

Preferred: Three years of experience in Career services. Corporate outreach experience. Career coaching/counseling in a graduate business school or other similar academic/higher education setting. Experience working with MBA students, utilization of university career services platforms such as Handshake.

Qualified individuals should be able to articulate a strong commitment to diversity, and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds.

This is a Restricted, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
