The Counseling Center at Pepperdine University promotes mental health on campus through direct intervention, outreach/prevention programming, consultation, and training. The Associate Counselor will join the Full-Time counseling staff in the provision of those services. This 10-month, full-time position will provide a comprehensive experience of working at a University Counseling Center. There will be an emphasis on group work and an opportunity to deepen knowledge and skills towards developing a specialty. As a staff member of Student Affairs who works closely with students, this person serves as a Christian role model to students. With psychological wellness in place, students are able to fulfill the University's mission. The Counseling Center strengthens students for lives of purpose, service, and leadership.

Duties

  • Provide therapy for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students experiencing a wide range of difficulties.
  • Conduct preventative psycho-educational workshops.
  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff regarding students of concern.
  • Document and maintain client files.
  • Serve on the Residential Emergency Response Team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or Social Work completed. Registration with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, or Associate Clinical Social Worker. Verifiable training and experience working with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Commensurate with experience in psychology or social work master's degree program. Proficiency in individual therapy, and ability to collaborate with other professionals who serve students. Proficiency with PCs, Windows-based software, and standard MS Office applications.

Preferred: Experience working at a University Counseling Center, experience working with young adults.

This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week, 10 month per year position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
