to steward the University's resources through extensive financial analysis and reporting, which will enhance
management's ability to make sound financial decisions ultimately affecting students. This is an ideal role
for an individual seeking to develop a broad skill set in budgeting and financial reporting, while also
building strong business relationships with both internal and external constituents.


  • Review, edit, and post budget adjustment requests by utilizing the University's ERP system, Oracle PeopleSoft
  • Provide tailored financial information for surveys requested by various external entities and analyze the results of surveys to conduct peer analysis and benchmarking
  • In coordination with major area budget managers, monitor GL journal postings and verify sufficient departmental budget exists. Resolve journals that exceed budget as they occur and gain and understanding of revenue and expense drivers across the University
  • Compile and upload data to Oracle PBCS (Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service - the University's planning and budgeting system), as well as assist with a variety of other database and financial system administration tasks
  • Train budget managers on how to use the University's EPM system, Oracle PBCS, for financial forecasting, budget building, and financial reporting 
  • Maintain and update various financial schedules used by University personnel and leadership for decision making
  • Conduct detailed month-end variance analyses and ad-hoc analyses as needed. Investigate key drivers and causes of material variances in order to be able to communicate those drivers through presentation building or written/verbal explanation
  • Counsel major area budget managers on the most effective way to structure departmental budgets
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in a business related field (accounting, finance, economics, business). Experience with analytical tools; excellent critical thinking skills; good written and oral communication skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; Strong PC skills; Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Preferred: Experience with Oracle Planning & Budgeting Cloud Service (PBCS); Oracle PeopleSoft; Database management.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
