The Director, Business Services Operations is responsible for the operations of the University’s business partners and assists with various projects within the Chief Business Officer division. Bringing excellence to all aspects of work and providing exceptional service, this position works directly with multiple departments, including Dining Services, campus bookstores, the Villa Graziadio Executive Center, Graduate Campuses, Special Programs, Corniche travel, vending, and licensing.


The Director, Business Services Operations ensures a seamless and professional environment conducive to world-class service and high achievement. Serving as a primary representative of Business Services departments for the division and University, this position employs communication, initiative, hospitality, organization, and efficiency. This position is responsible for the timely administration of routine processes, as well as the overall effectiveness of Business Services departments.


As a member of the division’s central administrative team, the Director, Business Services Operations supports the entire Chief Business Officer division and helps meet departmental goals and priorities through collaboration, initiative, and follow-through. This position works directly with colleagues and vendors to communicate priorities, write reports, draft proposals, host events, complete projects, and otherwise assist as needed.

Duties

  • Oversee business services operations (meet regularly with business and campus partners; ensure Business Services spaces are hospitable, neat, and meet departmental priorities; track tasks, projects, and initiatives to successful completion; develop and track department calendars, audits, and processes; identify and oversee event logistics; partner to oversee effective contract administration; develop positive working relationships with key stakeholders, etc.)
  • Propose and oversee business services initiatives (identify new ways Business Services can embody and promote the University's mission, vision, and values; implement measures that increase service and excellence; identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities; benchmark peer and aspirational organizations; partner with consultants to achieve departmental goals, etc.)
  • Serve as a primary representative of business services operations (lead the dining services committee; communicate on behalf of the University regarding business partner inquiries or direct inquiries to the appropriate party promptly and efficiently; compose professional and correspondence; ensure the effectiveness of emergency plans; assist the University during emergencies; meet with internal and external stakeholders regarding business partner matters; host events and well represent the division at various events; professionally interact with positions at all levels, etc.)
  • Assist with projects, reports, assignments, and events (maintain, prioritize, and administer a high level task management system; develop, review and edit presentations; prepare documents; write and edit reports and communications; benchmark and research data; oversee event set-up, registration, management, and take-down; provide assistance to the Emergency Operations Committee; provide Living Pepperdine daily line-up messages, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor’s degree; Five years of professional or educational experience in related fields or faith-based higher education

Preferred: Familiarity with Pepperdine University; Experience or background in faith-based higher education.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
