Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Mastery and Director of Bar Preparation, the Academic Mastery Program (AMP) Administrative Assistant will provide support on a broad range of tasks to accomplish the functions, goals, and objectives of the AMP Department, which is dedicated to assisting students to achieve academic excellence in law school and to pass the bar exam. The primary focus of the position is to provide general administrative, program and instructional/classroom support to AMP professors and staff. In addition to working with regular AMP Department professors and staff, the Administrative Assistant also will be required to work with graduate Teaching Fellows and student Teaching Fellows and will be required to interface with students (in-person and via email), as well as Law School faculty and other staff. Qualified applicants must be self-motivated, computer savvy, experienced in handling a wide range of administrative duties, able to work independently on long-term projects, interact in a fast-paced environment, and be flexible and proactive in self-learning.


  • General Administrative Support: Work in close collaboration with the Directors of Academic Mastery and Bar Support to ensure efficient operation of the Department. Support will be given in the areas of general office duties; record-keeping; managing the content of Department communications and websites; assistance with database management and analysis; drafting and proofing correspondence, memorandums, and reports; maintaining and managing department calendar, schedules, and meetings.
  • Program Support: Provide support for AMP team members, including graduate and student teaching fellows, in the management, maintenance, and implementation of Department programs and projects, including, but not limited to, the Bar Exam Boot Camp and Mentoring Program, department websites and databases, and grant applications and reports.
  • Instructional/Classroom Support: Assist AMP Department professors and staff with course administration; preparing course materials; assignment tracking and return; and communications with students.
  • Event Support: Assist with the organization and administration of AMP Department workshops and events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, etc.) programs. Familiarity with or ability to quickly develop competence in web-based applications, in the preparation of web-based content, and in managing listserves and other forms of electronic communication, e.g., electronic surveys and calendars. Work experience that required attention to detail, excellent organization and communication skills, independent follow-through, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks. Strong organizational skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving skills. Self-starter, ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities. 

Preferred: College degree or basic office experience equivalent. Knowledge of University systems and procedures. Experience in a law school, law office, or another legal field. Familiarity with the bar exam.

This is a Restricted, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
