The manager of immigration services role within Seaver College's International Programs (IP) office provides leadership over and management of visa procurement and vital document processes for study abroad students and faculty teaching abroad. This role also supports IP information management system (including implementation) for these and other documents.

Seaver College's International Programs is a key element within Pepperdine's history and strategic plan. Pepperdine seeks to enable all students to study abroad. As a result of the University's commitment towards international education, our program has one of the highest study abroad participation rates in the country year over year according to the Institute of International Education.

Obtaining a student visa or other vital documents (such as passports or immigration letters) is critical to enabling hundreds of students annually to experience the transformational opportunities that studying abroad provides.


  • Leads and manages procurement process of visas for hundreds of students annually. Leads complex policy and process discussions with study abroad partner organizations, global IP staff, and consulates. Creates and enforces International Programs policies for IP staff and students to follow.
  • Coordinates information management system implementation and enrollment management in conjunction with external constituents and other members of the IP team.
  • Leads faculty-in-residence visa procurement process. Manages detailed and complex visa processes and requirements including documentation collection and negotiations with legal entities globally to ensure Seaver Malibu faculty are able to work legally in each foreign context.
  • Oversees and implements student visa preparation processes including: ensuring IT systems are working properly to collect, store, and process thousands of visa documents and other vital documents, leads virtual and in-person workshops, prepares immigration letters on behalf of students, independently manages visa document correction processes, and document transmitting processes with government entities.
  • Supervises student staff to support visa services to students and faculty.
  • Oversees and manages visa process negotiations and agreements between government entities (consulates), in-country labor and legal parties, and Pepperdine.
  • Leads immigration emergency response efforts. Responds to urgent faculty and student visa needs by providing direction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned including coordinating aspects of the student admissions and preparation processes.
  • Upholds University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's degree; International travel, work, or study experience; Two years of post-college professional experience; Experience creating detailed program or process manuals Formal presentation skills; Detail oriented; Experience with business communications (email, phone, in-person); Highly organized; Adaptable; Experience using productivity software on a Macintosh or PC (i.e., Word, Excel, Google Suite, adobe acrobat).

Preferred: Master's degree in international education, political science, international policy, or a related field; Study abroad experience; Experience procuring study and/or work visas; Experience creating and enforcing policy; Experience creating online or virtual training resources; Knowledge of the processes and resources to obtain study and/or work visas; Experience using Macintosh computers; Experience presenting in a webinar format.

This is a Restricted, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $64,480 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
