The positions in this department exist to support the Hub for Spiritual Life in providing programs that engage students, in vibrant, consistent experiences of worship and spiritual life.

The Administrative Assistant position exists primarily to provide administrative, programmatic and clerical support for the Community Engagement and Service and Graduate School Ministries teams.

Duties

  • Provide administrative and clerical support for the Directors and Assistant Directors; manage the operation of PeopleSoft budget system; organize Google docs, fulfill paperwork, attend meetings, assist with service programs and graduate school programs and other events in daytime, evening, and weekend hours; manage the website and social media for Service and Graduate School ministries. Attend to the front desk to support visitors and students.
  • Provide administrative oversight of credit management, reporting, and service projects.
  • Schedule meetings and appointments; manage calendars for the Directors as needed.
  • Provide hospitality, book rooms using 25Live as needed.
  • Oversee office supplies, organization, and equipment for Directors.
  • Attend spiritual life events in the daytime, evening, and weekend hours, professional staff development opportunities, administrative support staff meetings with the Student Ministries Coordinator, and University events such as monthly president's briefing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Bachelor's Degree; proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and with Google programs (Docs, Calendar, etc.); strong typing and formal communication skills; administrative support experience; one year of professional customer service experience; proven ability to create systems and organize forms for multiple events; ability to balance professional customer service and pressing analytical duties in a high traffic environment; active involvement in a local church; demonstrated support for the Christian mission of the University is required for this position Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills; superior organizational skills and attention to detail; proper phone and email etiquette; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines; problem-solving skills and ability to manage conflict; ability to integrate Christian faith with student development theories and practice Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.; familiarity with Google products including Gmail, Docs, Forms, Calendar, etc.; knowledge of basic office equipment including scanner, copier, phone systems, computer, etc.

Preferred: Office management and administration; basic knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign) or take a class to learn to edit documents; experience planning and executing events; office experience in a Christian university setting; supervisor experience with college-age students. Enjoy working with faculty and staff, and graduate students. Background working with PeopleSoft or similar database systems.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $19.80 - $21.63 per hour

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
