The primary purpose of the Executive Assistant to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is to support the CFO operations of the Finance Department with the utmost attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and confidentiality. While supporting the entire Finance department, this position works primarily with the CFO, and should work well, and in close collaboration, with other University administrative staff. The CFO oversees the Office of the Controller, General Accounting, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Payroll, Systems, Credit and Account Receivables, Cashiers and Financial Planning. The Department of Finance supports and sustains a commitment to the University mission by encouraging good stewardship of University resources, providing efficient service to internal and external constituents, and providing relevant financial information and analysis.


  • Responsible for the administration, organization, and management of the CFO's office, acting with tact, diplomacy, and discretion on a variety of complex and sensitive issues.
  • Oversee and/or process a variety of financial transactions; produce, monitor, and reconcile budget reports; research, identify, and resolve discrepancies; process vendor payments and recharge forms, manage credit card reconciliations and substantiations, and assist with project management and tracking.
  • Formulate spreadsheets and develop documents and correspondence for presentations, conferences, seminars, and reports.
  • Act on CFO's behalf in identifying and resolving issues and making recommendations for action consistent with the priorities of the Finance area.
  • Manage critical projects on behalf of the CFO.
  • Coordinate and facilitate departmental meetings and events.
  • Communicate with the Board of Regents and coordinate Board reports in collaboration with the President's and Senior Vice President's office.
  • Serve as the CFO's liaison to various constituents through written correspondence, phone, and in-person contact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Uphold University mission through work performed.

Skills and Qualifications

Required: Strong interpersonal communication skills; Strong administrative support skills; Strong computer skills, MS Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat; Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform work while under pressure; Ability to proactively address issues and take initiative and ownership of projects; Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive matters; Ability to routinely and independently exercise sound judgment in making decisions; Ability to work effectively with University administrators, Regents, faculty, staff, students, vendors, attorneys, and government officials; Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred: Experience as office manager, executive assistant, or administrative assistant.

This is a Regular, Exempt, 40 hour per week position.

Expected Pay Range: $64,480 - $68,000 per year 

The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
